"Mega" and "regular roll" equivalents are ignored because each brand defines them differently, and jumbo dispenser rolls and listings without a clear sheet count are excluded. Sheets vary in size and ply, so a 1-ply sheet is not the same as a 2-ply sheet.
Why compare toilet paper per sheet instead of per roll?
Roll sizes are not standard. On Amazon, Angel Soft lists 18 Mega Rolls as 72 regular rolls (4 each), Cottonelle lists 32 Family Mega Rolls as 176 regular rolls (5.5 each), and Charmin lists 18 Family Mega XL rolls as 126 regular rolls (7 each). A sheet is the one unit every brand can be compared on.
Why are some popular brands missing?
Only listings whose titles state both the number of rolls and the sheets per roll are ranked. Many mega-roll listings give only a regular-roll equivalent, so they are left out rather than guessed at.
Is a 1-ply sheet the same as a 2-ply sheet?
No. A 2-ply sheet has two layers, so a 1-ply roll can look cheaper per sheet while giving you less paper. Use the 2-ply comparison to compare like with like.
